The Voice

THE VOICE

As I sat beneath an oak tree near the creek bank I closed my eyes and became aware of the different sounds that were around me. The rustling of the leaves, the babbling of the creek, and the song of a robin that sat above me in the oak. As the sounds swirled around me melding into each other yet still maintaining their independence I realized that I was hearing the voice of the Creator

“ I speak to you of gentleness through the winds that stir the oak leaf, I speak to you of joy through the robins’ chorus, and I speak to you of cleansing through the rushing waters of the creek. I convey my attributes to you through the natural beauty that I bestow upon the world around you”, the voice said to me.

“When do you speak to me of guilt, condemnation, and the worthlessness of my soul”, I asked the voice.

“ I do not speak of these things for they are attributes that man has labeled me with out of fear”, replied the voice.

Epiphany of the Senses

EPIPHANY OF THE SENSES

I have inhaled the aroma of the soft dirt of a forest floor.
I have felt the winds of change that sweep over the soul.
I have endured the power of a raging tempest.
I have breathed the breath of the Creator.

I have gazed upon the reflection of the sunrise in a serene mountain lake.
I have seen the glimmer of hope the resides in the tear drop of a broken heart.
I have glanced at the spirit of my fellow man and found commonality.
I have beheld the face of the Creator.

I have heard the cry of an eagle in flight.
I have heard the laughter of a child.
I have listened to an old mans story and found wisdom.
I have heard the voice of the Creator.

I have felt the comfort of a blanket of stars.
I have felt the warmth of a family gathering
I have found solace in the passing of a loved one.
I have felt the hand of the Creator.

Attributes of the Creator

ATTRIBUTES of the CREATOR

Blessed is the man that seeks the Creator in creation rather than destroying creation to raise temples and erect altars to honor the Creator. For it is in the world around us that the attributes of the Creator are revealed.

Gentleness is revealed in the innocence of a child.

Strength is revealed in the heart of the warrior that longs for peace.

Wisdom is revealed in the stories of our Grandmothers and Grandfathers.

Beauty is revealed in the splendor of nature.

Love is the thread that encircles these attributes, binding them one to another and in doing so binds us together through the Creator.

The Dolphin and Dragon

Her beauty can be compared to that of a thousand Goddesses. Her grace is comparable to that of a thousand swans. Her gentleness is likened to the most delicate flower.
Gliding elegantly through the depths, the dolphin, born of water and light has come to represent all that is pure and loved in this world.

His massive body moves effortlessly through the underworld as the ground shakes beneath each step. His strength is comparable to that of a thousand mountains. His majesty can be compared to that of a thousand kings. His fierceness is liked to a raging tempest.
Born of fire and darkness the dragon has come to represent all that is feared and misunderstood in this world.

These two creatures have come together to form the most cherished possession of mankind. His soul.

Will You Listen?

At the Dawning of A New Day

At this moment darkness reluctantly relinquishes its grip as the first rays of light struggle to pierce the night sky. As these two worlds meet, melding one into the other, becoming the magical gift of a new day, the Creator is speaking. Will you listen?

At this moment the harmony of the night bird and cricket surrenders to the welcoming anthem of the morning songbird. As natures’ orchestra makes the transition from dusk to dawn, the Creator is speaking. Will you listen?

At this moment the gentle illumination of the waning moon cedes its rein over to the garish power of the waxing sun. As these two sources of light bask in the joy of their brief encounter, the Creator is speaking. Will you listen?

At this moment the Divine within is capturing a rare glimpse of the Divine that resides in all of nature. As these two entities embrace in the reality that all things are sacred and connected, the Creator is speaking. Will you listen?

A Day at the Beach

As I walked along the oceans edge I watched as the tide crashed relentlessly onto the shore. Wave after wave the tide seemed to gain strength in its attempt to over take the earth. The foamy water pushed over the white sand, leaving small indentations and ripples as it receded to unite with another wave and repeat its continuous effort to reach its destination.

This made me consider the spirit of humankind and its attempts at reaching the pinnacle of existence, which I consider to be unconditional tolerance of different societies, races, and religions. What some call a God like love or Agape. To find the ability to embrace our similarities rather than our differences, to strive for world peace, and find a renewed respect for the Earth that we call home. How wonderful it would be if that spirit as a whole were as relentless as the tide, with each individual spirit likened to each wave, renewing its effort continually and uniting with others until the destination was reached.

Then I remembered the indentations and ripples that each wave left on the shoreline. Each wave impressing its mark upon the Earth and no two were the same. It was then that I realized that like the tide, each of us has been given an opportunity to leave our mark on this world. At times our efforts may seem futile, but if we press on we can reshape the spirit of humankind just as the tide has shaped and reshaped the shoreline.

I turned to leave as the evening sun began to set on the horizon, its brilliant colors reflecting off of the water, marking the end of another day. It is my plea that when the sun sets on my time on this earth that my indentations and ripples have left a positive mark.

A Harvest Prayer

As the vibrant colors of autumn began to emerge and the air is filled with the aromatic scent of firewood that is emitted by the surrounding chimneys we are reminded that yet another season has passed. This is the harvest time, a time to reflect on the passing season and to reap the results of the seeds we have sown. It is a time to ask ourselves if we took the time to sow the seeds of love to those around us. Took time to greet a stranger that we encountered on a busy day. Did we take the time to extend a helping hand to friends or relatives? Did we take time to listen to the story of a small child and share in their enthusiasm? Have we seized the opportunity to seek the Creator in the world around us?

This harvest season also provides us with the chance to show gratitude to those around us that sowed their own seeds of love. We are given the chance to remember how a strangers greeting uplifted our spirits or how a relatives helping hand or visit from a friend brought a smile to our face. We are reminded of the pure joy we felt as that child relayed their story to us and we recall the feeling of total awe as we saw the Creators hand at work through a sunrise or sunset.

As we take time to remember some of the events of the past season and how the random acts of kindness of others touched our lives, let us also remember that our own words and actions touched so many others lives and pray that those acts are being remembered favorably this harvest season.

The Gift of the Solstice

The Gift of the Solstice

The leaves of autumn once again left us breathless with their annual color show. There are but a few left clinging to the barren branches that now sway and creak under the command of a new wind. The brisk playful winds that once carried the multi colored leaves across the landscape of fading green grass have given way to the daunting winds of winter. The fallen leaves have lost the brilliant color that once caught our eye as they drifted lazily to the ground, they now lie brown and crisp upon the breast of Mother Earth. We are reminded that yet another season has come and gone. The Creator has given us a blessed “light” time of the year and the gift of a bountiful harvest.

The Earth is now in the full grip if winter, the frozen landscape is occasionally blanketed with snow and the bright green grass is either a warm memory of summer or a hopeful dream of spring. It is a time when the darkness has overtaken the light, causing the shortened days and longer nights. This “dark” time of year is a trial for the spirit that longs for the turning of the wheel of life and return of the light and warmth that sustains us all.

The winter solstice is upon us as a reminder of the Creators promise of the returning light. It is at this time of year that many religious paths celebrate in various ways the keeping of the Creators promise. Each path has its own interpretation and way of honoring this promise. Some honor this time by marking the anniversary of a prophecy fulfilled while others remember a time when the Creators hand was seen in certain miraculous events in history, and then there are those that choose to honor this time by seeing the Creators promise in nature. No matter how this promise is remembered, it is a miracle in itself to think that at this time of year all over the world people of different faiths and social backgrounds are celebrating the return of the light just as we are.

We celebrate this time not only to mark the passing of the seasons and to remind ourselves that the wheel of time continues to turn and once again spring will bring the Creators bounty back to the earth, but we are reminded that the Creator will see us through the “dark “ times of life. Just as this is a time to remember the Creators promise, it is also a time to gather with friends and family and to embrace the warmth of loved ones, for we are one of the tools that the Creator uses to see the spirit through the dark times in life. As each of us was created with a spark of the divine residing within our soul, we in essence are a symbol of the light that is the Creators promise. We have the inherent ability to see each other through the trials of life by allowing that spark of the divine to shine through us and become the gift of the solstice, the gift of the light of love and peace.

Plan for world domination underway

My plan to take over the world was set into action today. I knew all that I had to do was to convince President Obama to brainwash all of the nations school children in to be coming liberals.
Now all of these kids are forsaking all conservative ways and begging their parents to tear up their NRA membership cards and burn the family bible. I think it was a brilliant idea, after all we all know that eventually kids will get what they want one way or the other. So under my plan we get control of the kids and then they whine and piss and moan and throw a a tantrum or two until their parents give in a abandon their conservative ways too. Damn I am a Jenius

Labor Day Weekend

Friday: Had a quiet Friday because I had to work 1/2 day on Saturday.

Saturday: After work we headed into the suburbs for Chicago Pagan Pride Day, only after a stop for lunch a Cracker Barrel. PPD was held at a historic house in the city of Oak Park. It was rather odd to go to PPD in such an urban setting, the house had quiet a large yard and a few very old trees on the premises, but it was not the wide open state park that I was used to in Chattanooga.

The house itself was spectacular, filled with antiques and historical artifacts. I am sure that this house was used to being the setting of weddings or more formal events and was probably rather confused at the hedonistic energy that was filling its rooms on this weekend.

Other than the urban setting it was similar to PPD back home. There were quiet a few more vendors than we used to have, but Chicago is just a bit larger than Chattanooga so there are more metaphysical stores in the area to serve as vendors. Workshops were offered, but we chose just to meander around the vendor booths and see what we could find. I came home with a Stag pendant and Noelle found a beautiful plaque of Cerridwen. We didn't make it there in time for ritual but that was o.k. with us. I must say that I was both surprised and proud that the crowd wasn't overwhelming, it looked to be only slightly larger than the crowds that we had in Chattanooga. This rather shocked me since the population of Chicago and surrounding suburbs is over 9 million and Nooga ain't near that big. I was proud of the fact that we did have a great turn out at our PPD comparatively speaking. SO BE PROUD CHATTANOOGA.

Our next stop was the big city. Drove all around Michigan Ave and Lakeshore Dr. seeing all of the sights from the comfort of the car. We ended up at Navy Pier in the late evening and just wandered around for a bit soaking in the atmosphere. Grabbed a bite to eat at the food court since we both refused to wait an hour and a half at one of the larger eateries. As soon as it got dark we jumped on the slowest Ferris wheel I have ever ridden, but it was a great view of the city. After that we wandered a bit more as I pondered why anyone would pay $4.50 for a 12oz beer. We ate junk food and people watched until time for the fireworks. All in all we had a great time and didn't get home until 1am, which is totally late for me any more.

Sunday: Didn't do a damned thing but lay on the couch and nap

Monday: Was more productive than yesterday. Got some writing done, grass mowed, and laundry finished. Having a cook out with Noelles parents around 5. OH shit, that is is 10 min, gotta run

Just gotta fume

I can't believe all of the hoopla over a speech to the nations school children. I was watching Face the Nation this morning and heard comments like Obama is capturing your children and that he is going to use this speech to push socialist ideas

What a load of crap. The bottom line is that his speech is based on staying in school and off of drugs, committing to doing the best you can, achieve and gain a good education to better yourself. Well I suppose I can see the dilemma, if kids stay in school and get a good education they are likely to think for themselves. This poses a real problem for the "right wingers" that are raising all of the hell about this speech. They simply can't have a generation of free thinkers running around resisting the drug of choice of the right wing which is myopic bias.
