A Harvest Prayer

As the vibrant colors of autumn began to emerge and the air is filled with the aromatic scent of firewood that is emitted by the surrounding chimneys we are reminded that yet another season has passed. This is the harvest time, a time to reflect on the passing season and to reap the results of the seeds we have sown. It is a time to ask ourselves if we took the time to sow the seeds of love to those around us. Took time to greet a stranger that we encountered on a busy day. Did we take the time to extend a helping hand to friends or relatives? Did we take time to listen to the story of a small child and share in their enthusiasm? Have we seized the opportunity to seek the Creator in the world around us?

This harvest season also provides us with the chance to show gratitude to those around us that sowed their own seeds of love. We are given the chance to remember how a strangers greeting uplifted our spirits or how a relatives helping hand or visit from a friend brought a smile to our face. We are reminded of the pure joy we felt as that child relayed their story to us and we recall the feeling of total awe as we saw the Creators hand at work through a sunrise or sunset.

As we take time to remember some of the events of the past season and how the random acts of kindness of others touched our lives, let us also remember that our own words and actions touched so many others lives and pray that those acts are being remembered favorably this harvest season.
